The 2026 edition of our salary guide is built on placements, offers we have seen candidates receive, and salary conversations with over 300 GMP professionals in the Netherlands and Flanders over the last twelve months. These are the movements that matter.
Headline medians, medior / senior (Randstad, gross annual)
| Role | Medior | Senior | Change vs 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| QA Officer | €52–62k | €62–75k | +3 % |
| Validation Engineer | €55–68k | €70–85k | +4 % |
| QC Analyst | €40–48k | €48–58k | +2 % |
| Qualified Person | , | €95–130k | +5 % |
| MSAT Scientist | €55–65k | €68–82k | +3 % |
| RA Officer | €50–60k | €62–78k | +2 % |
Interim day rates: QA €650–850, Validation €700–950, QP €1,000–1,400, broadly flat on 2025 after two years of strong growth.
What moved and why
Qualified Persons (+5 %). The QP pool has not grown while licences have, more CDMO clients, more importation, more ATMP sites. Sterile and biologics QPs are now routinely at €120k+. Deputy QP roles have become the standard entry, and sites that refuse to appoint a Deputy are finding they cannot recruit a QP at all.
Validation and CQV (+4 %). Annex 1 upgrades and biologics capacity expansions kept demand high through 2025 and into 2026. The permanent market moved more than the freelance market, which suggests sites are converting project engineers into standing teams.
QA Officers (+3 %). Steady. The premium for sterile experience widened: sterile QA Officers in Leiden are now €5–8k above the national median for the same title.
QC (+2 %). The lowest movement, and the discipline with the most shift work. Where QC salaries moved it was for microbiologists with EM programme ownership and analytical scientists with method validation ownership. Plain analysts are close to CAO-driven increases.
RA (+2 %). Steady, with CMC regulatory specialists continuing to pull away from general RA by €5–10k.
The interim market
After two years of 8–10 % annual rate growth, 2026 is flat. Sites pushed back on rates above €100 per hour for validation and above €1,400 per day for QP, and changes in freelance regulation have moved some freelancers into secondment. We expect rates to stay flat through 2027 unless a large capacity project lands in the Netherlands.
Regional picture
- Leiden: +3–5 % over the Randstad median for QA and validation.
- Brabant / Limburg: −4 %.
- North: −6 %, offset by housing costs.
- Flanders: +6 % gross, but compare packages (car, meal vouchers, group insurance, 13th month) before drawing conclusions.
What this means
For candidates: if you have not had a salary conversation in two years, you are probably 5–8 % behind the market in validation or QP, and roughly at market in QC. For employers: the QP and sterile QA markets are supply-constrained, and a vacancy priced at the 2024 level will not fill.
