Frequently asked questions

Do I need to speak the local language to work in QA?

At most CDMOs, biotech and vaccine sites the quality system runs in English. Sites with a local-language shop floor usually want a working level of that language for QA Officers who review batch records with operators. We state the language requirement on every vacancy.

What is the difference between a QA Officer and a QA Specialist?

In practice the Specialist title marks a senior individual contributor who owns a system (deviations, change control, supplier qualification, validation QA) rather than a queue. It is the usual stepping stone to team lead.

Can I move from QC to QA?

Yes, and it is the most common route. Two to three years of QC with exposure to OOS investigations and method validation is enough for most QA Officer roles.

Is Ghent good for ATMP and biotech quality roles?

It is the strongest ATMP and novel-modality cluster in Flanders. Many roles involve building a first GMP quality system, which suits QA professionals who want to build.

Do I need Dutch for a GMP job in Ghent?

At biotech sites in Zwijnaarde, no. Larger manufacturing sites may prefer it. We state it per vacancy.
