Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between MSAT and process development?

Process development designs the process before commercial manufacturing; MSAT owns it once it is running in the plant. The skills overlap, and the move from development into MSAT is common.

Do I need a PhD for MSAT?

No. A PhD helps for characterisation-heavy roles in biologics, but hands-on plant experience with tech transfer and investigations is what most sites screen for.

Is MSAT a route into QA or production leadership?

Both happen. MSAT leads move into production management, and MSAT scientists with strong investigation skills move into QA. The process knowledge transfers well in either direction.

Are there English-speaking pharma jobs in Amsterdam?

More than anywhere else in the Netherlands. Regulatory affairs, QA for MAH licences, QP for importation and ATMP QA/QC roles are almost all English-speaking.

Is there GMP manufacturing in Amsterdam?

Some: hospital pharmacy GMP units, ATMP start-ups building first facilities, and clinical trial supply. Large-scale manufacturing is in Leiden, Oss and Bilthoven.
