GMP jobs and recruitment in Amsterdam

GMP and pharma jobs in Amsterdam: EU headquarters, regulatory affairs teams, cell and gene therapy start-ups and the EMA's home city, the most English-speaking pharma market in the Netherlands.

Working in pharma in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is less about manufacturing and more about the functions around it. Since the EMA moved to the Zuidas in 2019 the city has become the natural base for EU regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance and quality functions of international MAHs. The Amsterdam Science Park and the Amsterdam UMC campus host a cluster of cell and gene therapy start-ups, several of which are building their first GMP facilities, and the hospital pharmacy GMP units are among the most advanced in Europe.

For candidates this means the highest share of English-speaking roles in the country: regulatory, QA for MAH/importer licences, QP for importation, and ATMP QA/QC at start-ups. For employers it means competition with consulting and corporate salaries, so pharma RA and QA roles here need to be pitched €3–6k above the national median.

Commute and housing

Amsterdam has the tightest housing market in the Netherlands. International staff commonly live in Haarlem, Almere, Amstelveen or Hoofddorp and commute 20–35 minutes by train. Many RA and QA roles are hybrid (two to three days on site), which widens the radius considerably. The 30 % ruling is decisive for anyone relocating here.

Language

English throughout. Dutch is an advantage for national-procedure regulatory work and for hospital pharmacy roles, and we flag it where it applies.
