Frequently asked questions

Do I need a specific degree for QC?

A laboratory degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy or a related field is the norm. For microbiology roles a microbiology or biomedical background is usually required. Hands-on instrument experience matters more than the exact title.

What is the difference between QC and QA?

QC tests the product and the environment; QA decides what the results mean for release. The most common career move in GMP is from QC to QA after two to three years of OOS and method-validation exposure.

Is shift work common in QC?

At production sites with continuous operations, yes: release and environmental monitoring often run in shifts. Contract labs and stability programmes are usually day work. We state the pattern on every vacancy.

Are there English-speaking pharma jobs in Amsterdam?

More than anywhere else in the Netherlands. Regulatory affairs, QA for MAH licences, QP for importation and ATMP QA/QC roles are almost all English-speaking.

Is there GMP manufacturing in Amsterdam?

Some: hospital pharmacy GMP units, ATMP start-ups building first facilities, and clinical trial supply. Large-scale manufacturing is in Leiden, Oss and Bilthoven.
