Utrecht is the Netherlands' logistics centre and its pharma market reflects that: generics and OTC manufacturers, MAH quality and regulatory teams, GDP wholesalers and contract testing laboratories, plus the Utrecht Science Park (De Uithof) with its regenerative medicine and ATMP research groups moving towards GMP. Roles here skew towards QA for solid dosage forms, QP and Deputy QP for multi-product licences, supplier auditing and regulatory lifecycle work.

Generics sites in the region are more likely to require Dutch than the biotech clusters in Leiden and Amsterdam, shop-floor teams are Dutch-speaking and QA Officers who review batch records with operators usually need B1–B2. We state this on every vacancy.

Commute and housing

Utrecht Centraal is 30 minutes from Amsterdam, Leiden and Arnhem and 45 from Eindhoven, which makes it the most commutable city in the country. Housing is expensive but less extreme than Amsterdam; Amersfoort, Houten, Nieuwegein and Zeist are the usual choices for families.

Salary

Utrecht tracks the Randstad median: QA Officers €52–62k medior, QPs €95–120k, RA Officers €50–60k. Generics sites tend to pay slightly below biotech but with better collective agreement (CAO) benefits.
